300 - Manhunt 480 B.C

Đoạn tên sứ thần Ba Tư nói: "Why does this woman think she can speak amongst men?", em ấy cho luôn 1 câu: "Because only Spartan women give birth to real men." Phim còn có một em xinh đẹp "lên đồng" ở Oracle hấp dẫn phết. Gái trong phim này cũng giống như giai, rất thiếu thốn vải mặc (praise the Lord that they had not invented bras back then ).

The F Word

People try to use euphemisms such as “curvy”, “voluptuous”, “full-figured”, “big”, “healthy” to try cover the fact that they are, well… FAT. Yes, you’ve heard me, FAT!

I remember when I was little, I could comment on people being fat, skinny, average… without giving much thought into it. But with the “size 0” outcry debate, people suddenly start attacking thin chicks and praising “healthy” figure women. There has been a double standard when it comes to sizes. It’s perfectly OK to say “she’s so skinny that’s disgusting” but it is offensive to say “she’s so fat that’s gross”. If they are so proud of their figures, why don’t they just gladly accept that they are fat? (I’m talking about women who are above American size 10). Or are they embarrassed deep inside that they don’t think fatness and beauty come together? Has “fat” become a taboo word? I can’t get why people, mainly women, keep bringing down a girl like Mischa Barton for being “anorexic”. I don’t think she is anorexic, slim or may be thin, but not anorexic. Anorexic is another story ‘cause in my mind an anorexic is someone who looks extremely, disturbingly skinny.

I find it ironic that while we are fed with the message “be who you are” or “love your body”, yet 99% women featured in women magazines are slim to ultra thin. So we have these two messages:
- being thin is beautiful
- being thin is bad/anorexic/disgusting

Besides bitching about thin girls, there has been a growing uproar for larger women on fashion shows. Unless that girl is seriously skinny, like a pre-rehab Olsen, I don’t see the problem with a skinny chick. I personally think the ideal shape would be Victoria’s Secret girls ‘cause they have more meat than high fashion models but clothes on catwalk indeed look better on thin (and tall) chicks. A large woman would distract viewers from the clothes.

We know that most of men do like meat (ass + boobs) on women (they have been simple like that since the cave age) so why do women need to keep bitching? I can only think of jealousy. Otherwise what’s the reason? As long as you’re not overweight, men wouldn’t pressure you to be a “size 0”. And for the anorexia issue, anorexia stems from a personal choice to stop eating, quite similar to obesity from eating too much. And if you are a model who isn’t naturally slim and can’t cope with the pressure of being slim then quit the modeling industry, it is not gonna be the end of the world. Media, fast food and fashion can’t be wholly blamed for these problems. It’s after all their personal choice. Just like the ideal Asian beauty is having double eyelids but I refuse to have a double eyelid surgery. You just can’t let media or fashion dictate your personal perception of beauty.

I’m neither skinny or overweight so this is written from a neutral point of view. I’m NO WAY pro-ana or pro-mia but I’m pretty fed up with this whole political correctness, double standard and bitterness when it comes to sizes.

The Rejection code

We all know that rejection sucks. But we also know that we or someone would be sensitive enough not to say: “You are too ugly/fat/dumb/boring/selfish/careless/mean, etc.” though these are some of the top reasons. So what’s up with “It’s not you, it’s me” or “Let’s be friends” crap? Let’s decode them from each gender's perspective:

Top 10 Rejection Lines

Given By Women (and what they actually mean)

10. I think of you as a brother. (You remind me of that inbred banjo-playing geek in "Deliverance.")

9. There's a slight difference in our ages. (You are one jurassic geezer.)

8. I'm not attracted to you in 'that' way. (You are the ugliest dork I've ever laid eyes upon.)

7. My life is too complicated right now. (I don't want you spending the whole night or else you may hear phone calls from all the other guys I'm seeing.)

6. I've got a boyfriend (who's really my male cat and a half gallon of Ben and Jerry's).

5. I don't date men where I work. (Hey, bud, I wouldn't even date you if you were in the same 'solar system', much less the same building.)

4. It's not you, it's me. (It's not me, it's you.)

3. I'm concentrating on my career. (Even something as boring and unfulfilling as my job is better than dating you.)

2. I'm celibate. (I've sworn off only the men like you.)

...and the number 1 rejection line given by women (and what it actually means)

1. Let's be friends. (I want you to stay around so I can tell you in excruciating detail about all the other men I meet. It's that male perspective thing)

In response ... The male perspective on the same issue

Top 10 Rejection Lines

Ugly Betty - "You make my palms sweat"

"You do take my breath away. You make my heart beat faster. You make my palms sweat. But that doesn't mean I don't love you. It means I do. Sometimes your heart knows things your mind can't explain. And my heart doesn't race for anyone else. I love you, Sofia."

Sexy ManWhore Daniel Meade finally realizes that there is a difference between having his *thingy* and his palms sweat which translates to his feelings for Sofia as love (opposed to hormone, sex craving for hot secretaries, models, etc.). Meanwhile, hot secretary bitch Amanda finally realizes that her love for Daniel is a one way street. The ring slipping from Amanda’s finger implies her discreet deep feeling for Daniel (sweaty palms) and the fantasy world she's been building is drifting away. And supercouple love nerds Betty & Henry radiate the sexiest eye-shag in the history of eye-shags, finally realize that they are destined for each other. I’m sure they will produce a lot of cute nerds for Mode or the accounting department. *Squee*

Pox Thiến Jolie: Angelina's newest toy boy

Oops, sorry, the boy's name is actually Pax Thien Jolie. And he's not her toy boy but baby boy.

Angelina's track of naming babies recently has been deteriorating at the pace of Nicole Richie's weight loss. First is Shiloh, now Pax? What's next, Jong Il?

Anyway, the baby is kinda cute. I'm all for Baby Deathmatch between goofy cutie Pax and sexy badass Maddox. You can see the tension in Mad's eyes already. Yay!

Nhìn cả lũ tị nạn rồi nằm lăn lóc ở central block trông khá là thê thảm, like a glamorous version of Palestinian refugees.

(sorry I watch too much soap)

An interesting experience.

Marie Antoinette - Let's rock 'n' roll, baby!

[Sofia Coppola's] historical biopic plays like a pop video, with Kirsten Dunst as the doomed 18th century French queen acting like a teenage flibbertigibbet intent on being the leader of the cool kids' club."
Leah Rozen, PEOPLE

Marie vẫn như đứa trẻ mới lớn, mơ mộng được một chàng kị sĩ/hoàng tử/some sexy man đưa tới một vùng đất mới xa xôi (like any young girl).

Câu nói nổi tiếng "If they have no bread, then let them eat cake" thực chất là chuyện thêu dệt sự ngờ nghệch của Marie.
